On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the entire staff of the GLC gathered for a training session on the topic of "Action-oriented oral examinations”. The two speakers, Silvie Zeller and Andreas Chehadi, coordinators of the German I and German III courses at the German Language Center at GJU, began the training with a theoretical introduction to the functions of oral examinations from a teacher and learner perspective, the principle of "competence and action orientation" and its application in oral examinations. They gave tips on how to implement action-oriented speaking even more effectively in the classroom, not only as preparation for action-oriented exams, but also as a general teaching principle for developing real language skills.

Following the training, the 71 lecturers of the German Language Center engaged in role plays simulating challenges and problematic situations that may arise during oral examinations and how to deal with it. In addition to the learning effect and instructive discussions, the group work also revealed a number of hidden acting talents among the participants.
