Biography

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Carla Pütz is a Professor of Civil Engineering specializing in Construction Management at the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz (HTWG), Germany, where she has been working since October 2026. From October 2026 to January 2027, she is a Visiting Professor at the German Jordanian University (GJU), School of Sustainable Systems Engineering (SSSE).

She received her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Project Management from Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Mosbach in 2013 and her Master's degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Construction Management, from Aachen University of Applied Sciences in 2015. In 2024, she obtained her doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Wuppertal, where her research focused on innovative approaches to Building Information Modeling (BIM) education and training, particularly through gamification.

From 2016 to 2021, she worked as a Research Associate at the University of Wuppertal, focusing on digitalization in the construction industry. Between 2024 and 2026, she was a Professor of Digitalization in Construction at DHBW Mosbach.

In addition to her academic career, Prof. Pütz has extensive professional experience in the railway infrastructure sector. She held several project management and leadership positions at Deutsche Bahn (DB Netz AG), including managing major BIM infrastructure projects and leading project controls for a large-scale railway corridor modernization project. Her professional expertise includes construction project management, scheduling, cost and risk management, and digital project delivery.

Her research and teaching interests focus on BIM, digital transformation in construction, construction and project management, Lean Construction, and innovative teaching approaches using gamification and immersive technologies.

During her visiting professorship at GJU, she teaches Engineering Projects and Construction Management and supports the Civil Engineering faculty in developing BIM competencies and integrating BIM into its future curriculum.
