The Arabic Language for Special Purposes (ALPS) Program at the Arabic Language and Culture Center (ALCC) is divided into two distinct tracks:

  • Customized Programs, Designed for universities, diplomatic missions, institutions, or organizations with specific goals. These programs are flexible, tailored to the institution’s needs, and may emphasize particular language skills or activities depending on their objectives.
  •
  • Specialized Academic Track, focused on areas such as Media, Culture, Literature, Islamic Studies, Classical Arabic, Tajweed, and other specialized topics. Enrollment in this track requires students to have successfully completed the B1 level, ensuring they possess the foundational skills necessary to engage with specialized materials. Courses are structured across three progressive levels (Level I, II, and III), enhancing the four core language skills — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — through an integrated approach that combines Modern Standard Arabic, colloquial varieties, functional vocabulary, and cultural insights.

Courses are delivered online, onsite at GJU, or as Hosted Programs abroad, in individual or group sessions, supported by expert instructors who develop high-quality learning materials, including worksheets, textbooks, podcasts, videos, songs, and online tools. The Study Buddy partnership further supports functional language practice. Cultural activities, often free or low-cost, enrich the learning experience and promote full cultural immersion, enabling students to gain linguistic proficiency and an in-depth understanding of the Arabic-speaking world.

The program follows international standards (CEFR and ACTFL) to place students at their appropriate proficiency levels.
