The Vision Rehabilitation Center (VRC) at the German Jordanian University (GJU) was established in 2012 as a non-profit center due to the scarcity of vision rehabilitation services in the country. The VRC aims to be a role model center that serve the community by:

 

  1. Providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to help persons with vision impairment to be active and productive in the community. This will contribute to break the cycle between Poverty & disability by offering nonprofit services and devices with low/No cost.
  2. Offering training courses for specialists who are interested in improving their knowledge in the field of vision rehabilitation such as Optometrists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Special Educations and others.
  3. Raising awareness about vision impairment among community members and how to help and cooperate to have integrated inclusive community.
  4. Conducting scientific research in the area of Vision Rehabilitation, as there is shortage in the data about rehabilitation service coverage in developing countries including Jordan.
  5. Conducting specialized workshops in Vision Rehabilitation services for community members including specialists and caregivers.
