2026 Surplace Scholarships for B.A. Translation (German-English-Arabic)

The Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is granting scholarships annually for the most meritorious students out of funds provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The scholarships are granted per year and may be extended each subsequent year of the studies under the condition that the performance of the scholarship holders stays consistently above average (GPA above 80%) and that funds provided by the DAAD remain available.
Students from Jordan and neighboring countries can apply for Surplace Scholarships for 2026/2027, starting from June 2026. The deadline for submitting the applications is 31 August 2026.
Pre-Requisites and Application Requirements
In general, students who apply for studying in the B.A. Translation Program can also apply for a scholarship (minimum school GPA 70%). Applicants should fill in the form in the following link: Application Form
The best applicants will be selected for a scholarship based on the school GPA, the motivation letter, and, upon invitation, an interview as well as an English/Arabic proficiency test.
The interviews and English/Arabic proficiency test are scheduled to take place at the beginning of September 2026 at GJU in Madaba.
The Surplace Scholarships comprise of
• a lump sum (2500,- Euro per year, paid in two installments) that covers part of the study fees at the GJU (for the study fees please see: GJU Tuition Fees)
German Year Scholarships
Like all GJU students the B.A. Translation students spend their fourth year in Germany (academic semester and internship). For this German Year specific scholarships are available for B.A. Translation students, which comprise of
• a monthly allowance that approximately covers the costs of living (there are no major study fees in Germany)
• a travel allowance for the trip to Germany
The German Year scholarships are distributed among the most meritorious Translation students based on the GPA (at the end of the third academic year) and the availability of funds.
Complaints mechanism:
The initial results are expected to be communicated to the candidates shortly after the review process is completed. Following that, there will be an appeal phase of 48 hours. Only appeals sent during the specified appeal period to IAD.Queries@gju.edu.jo will be considered.

All legal procedures stipulated in the legislation in force are taken in addition to the disciplinary procedures if it is found that any of the FSG awardee are not eligible, the FSG withdrawn by a decision of the President based on the placement from the committee, and the amounts that have been paid are refunded.

4. The President shall decide on cases not mentioned in this policy.
