Study Group Mobility 2027
Call for Applications
The Call for Applications for the Study Group Mobility (SGM) Program is now open. The Study Group Mobility is a key element for initiating and deepening cooperation between GJU and German university partners. It brings together up to five GJU students and up to five students from a German partner university, under the joint supervision of one lecturer from each institution, to collaborate on an application-oriented, one semester-long academic or research project. A balanced distribution of supported mobilities between Jordan-to-Germany and Germany-to-Jordan is aimed for.
The one semester-long Study Group project is conducted predominantly through digital tools and platforms, allowing students and lecturers from both institutions to work together throughout the project. The collaboration peak is a one-week in-person phase, during which the participating group from one institution visits and works with the other half of the Study Group in Germany or Jordan. This mobility phase provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise, work intensively on the selected topic, and present the progress and outcomes of the joint project.
The one-week in-person final phase is supported through TNE funding (Transnational Education), which covers the mobility-related costs only (travel cost and accommodation lumpsum).
The Study Group Mobility Program is financially supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal, as part of the ongoing cooperation between the two institutions.
What is funded via GJU Project Office at Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal?
- Flight tickets (economy class) for travel between Jordan and Germany for up to six participants per study group, including up to five students and one supervising professor, including travel to and from the airport, and the visa costs.
- 60 € allowance for accommodation costs per person per night (maximum 6 nights).
Important Note – Planning and Responsibilities
Applicants are responsible for managing their mobility arrangements within the required timelines, including visa applications, accommodation, flight bookings, work schedules, and other related preparations.
Applicants are therefore expected to plan their mobility well in advance and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed on time.
Who can apply?
- Projects that are related to GJU clusters or that can provide valuable input for the development of future clusters are highly encouraged.
- Graduating study groups (B.A./M.A.), formed by a partner university and GJU, who are working in the same academic field on their graduation project/thesis.
- Graduation projects that include a practical-oriented joint project with a topic aligned towards the GJU, Jordan or any other GJU applied science approach, innovation, technology transfer, sustainability, energy, and entrepreneurship have priority.
- Groups who work on an application-related long-term project e.g. concerning one of the above topics.
- Applications are open to any field of study.
- The Study Group Mobility cannot be undertaken or supervised during a sabbatical leave or unpaid leave.

Double applications from one project including mutual visits from Jordan to Germany and vice versaare welcome.
